INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM

VISIT TO GISBORNE

MAORI RECEPTION

ARR ANGEM ENTS MADE

Final arrangements have been completed for the visit of the Prince of Manavadar's Indian hockey team to Gisborne next week. The team will arrive at Gisborne on Wednesday afternoon, and the evening has been kept free for them, except that some members will probably attend the pictures as the guests of the King's Theatre management-

On Thursday the team will visit the High School at 9.30 a.m. for a run out, and the opportunity will be taken for a talk to be given to the scholars by Professor Jagan Nath, manager of the team.

At 10.30 a.m. a Maori welcome and civic reception, will be held at Poho-o-Rawiri.

The team includes some members who were with the last touring side from India in 1935, and they have very pleasant recollections of the Maori welcome extended to them then. Therefore, the team is looking forward to the Poho-o-Rawiri function next week.

The match against Poverty Bay will be held on the Childers Road Reserve at 2.30 p.m. next Thursday, and a dinner will be given to the team that evening at the Masonic Hotel.

A dance will be given in honour of the visitors that evening in the City Hall, the return journey to Napier being made on the Friday morning, where the touring team will play Hawke's Bay.
