FOOTPATH TRIMMING The trimming of footpaths and open drains and a continuation of work in preparing an area for tree planting on Waikanae Beach Park are the principal works to be carried out by the Gisborne Borough Council during the coming fortnight, according to the report of the works committee at last night's meeting of the council. "Application has been made to the Employment Promotion Department for 10 additional men to be employed in cutting away lower branches, thinning out pine trees, and replacing trees where necesary in the Awapuni road plantation," the report added.
