GISBORNE HARRIERS
RUN OVER THE HILLS LAST OF OPEN SERIES The harrier members of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club mustered in good numbers on Saturday afternoon at Ilinaki street and had a successful run over the hills from the residence of Mr. D. Beattie. Those who made the run were 11. Beattie, J. Tangney, I. Olliver, T. Parkinson, N. Thompson, T. Blair, C. Parkinson, L. Barker, N. Frehner, D. Lougher, F. Phillips, A. Scott, and G. Thompson. The course led from Ilinaki street along Iranui road to deLautour road, on to Huxley road. At the brickworks the trail left the road and led to the top of the hills and then swung right along the ridge for some distance, eventually coming down the hill to meet the road at Wainul Beach. It was not until the last two miles along Wainui road on to deLautour road that the fast pack unde much impression on the members of the slow pack, who had made good time over the middle stage of the journey. Keen interest was shown in thisrun as it was the last open run before a series of trophy races, the first of which will take place next Satur-
day on a course from Derby street around Barker's Hill for a cup presented by Mr. C. Brown. This course, which is all road, should prove admirable training for, the Ormond to Gisborne relay, which has been set down for. the following Saturday. Four teams already l have been submitted for this race. Handicaps for Saturday's fixture will be announced on" Friday, and all harriers are requested to meet at the clubrooms, Derby street, at 2.15 p.m.
