CHAMPAGNE DRINKER
AMERICAN SWIMMER DIVORCED BY HUSBAND LOS ANGELES, June 13. Eleanor Holm, swimming champion, was accused of excessive champaigne drinking when her husband’s divorce suit was 'being heard. The husband, Arthur Jarrett, crooner and band leader, 'alleged that his wife’s conduct had caused him “constant embarrassment and great mental anguish.” The swimmer’s romance with Billy Rose, a showman, was also mentioned during the hearing. Jarrett was granted a divorce.
Eleanor Holm, one of the selected United States’ representatives, was barbed from appearing at the Olympic Games in Berlin in 193 G. The reason then given was that she had indulged too freely in cocktails on the voyage to Europe.
