Lyttelton.—May 4: Arrived Wahine, C. 45 a.m., Canadian Challenger, 9.30 a.m., and Waimarino, 10.45 a.m. all from Wellington; Port Caroline, i a.m., and Breeze, 8.45 a.m.. from Timaru. Orders to report back to headquarters in Wellington have been received by Mr. E. N. le Petit, a teacher of'the State Correspondence School, who has spent some weeks in the Poverty Bay and East Coast district, interviewing parents of mail-scholars and organising• preparations for the special assembly which was to have been held in Gisborne this month. The assembly having been abandoned, in consequence oi flood conditions. Mr. le Petit is being recalled to head cilice duties. Bad weather during the past fortnight has interfered considerably with his country itinerary, and many homes which he had hoped to visit will not now figure in his programme. He is to remain in Gisborne until the end of the week, however, and will be available for consultation by the parents of mail-scholars during tomorrow and Friday, at the Gisborne Central School.
