PROMINENT SECRETARY

MR. E. 0. JACK DEAD FLUENT LINGUIST (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The death is announced of Mr. Edward Collins Jack, aged 09, a wellknown company secretary and commercial agent of Wellington. Since 1900 the late Mr. Jack had been engaged in secretarial work, commencing as Dominion secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, which position he held until 1921. From 1915 to 1922. lie was secretary of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture and was also on the executive of the Wellington Town Planning Association and for over 12 years was editormanager of the Farmers Union Advocate.

At the time of his death, Mr. .lack held several secretarial positions, including those of the Dominion Farmers' Institute and the New Zealand Forcstrv League, which positions he had held since 1910 and 1915 respectively. Mr. Jack spoke both Maori and Esperanto fluently and was very interested in the work of the Esperanto Club.
