APPROVAL IN COMMONS CONTRASTING SCENES TENSENESS RECALLED ANTHONY EDEN'S MOVE (Reed. Mav 3. 2.40 p.m.) LONDON. May 2. By 316 votes to 108. the House of Commons approved the Anglo-Italian agreement. The Australian Associated Press says it is dillicult to realise that today's debate in the House of Commons on the Anglo-Italian agreemo.it concerned the same issue which a few weeks ago, amid the most tense scenes, resulted in the resignation of the then Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden. A greater contrast could hardly be imagined. This afternoon the Prime Minister. Mr. Neville Chamberlain. opened the debate in an atmosphere more appropriate to an unimportant private members' day than a firstclass international issue. Only 3! Labour and Liberal members occupied the Opposition benches at the commencement, of the speech, ninetenths of which was devoted virtually to summarising the documents.
