The decision in connection with the application of D. J. McKay to transfer his license to G. Brocklebank will be given to-morrow in Whakafane by the No. 1 District Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phelan. When he returned last evening from Wairoa Mr. Phelan heard the application in Gisborne and reserved his decision. It has been reported that yet another bridge, the Waikoau "bridge on the Tutira side of the Devil's Elbow on the Napier-Wairoa road, was washed away by the floods last week. It is stated that on the upstream side of the point where the bridge was located there are now sheer cliffs for a distance of 300yds. Cutting off the engine of his plane while diving over the heads of people marooned in the Tangoio district a pilot was able to carry out snatches of conversation with the settlers during the earlier part of the flood period. With Tangoio cut off by land, aeroplanes were sent aloft with welcome food supplies, which they dropped in packages to the marooned settlers.
