GOLD NUGGET FOUNT) Suffering because of the worn soles oi' his boots as he. stumbled across old alluvial workings at Mulgabbie, near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Alfred Blenkinson, a 72-year-old prospector, bemoaned the fact that he had no money to buy a new pair. As'he picked his way painfull across the old tailings heaps, the scene of many a rich find two decades ago, stones oerced the paper-thinness of his soles. Suddenly he was brougnt up short with an exclamation oi pain as a sharp piece jabbed through. Bending down he extracted from his boot a 2)1-07.. nugget of gold worm £2O.
