AUCKLAND HOSPITAL POST
SECRETARY-MANAGER CHOICE OF THE BOARD (Pit Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The appointment of Mr. C. L. Grange, at present the borough commissioner of Thames, as secretarymanager of the Auckland Hospital Board was made at a special meeting of the board last night.
The selection was made from three applicants out of a total of IG9, the three being Mr. Grange, Mr. T. W. M. Ashby, city treasurer to the Auckland City Council, and Mr. A. R. F. Mackay, the assistant accountant to the Treasury in Wellington. A ballot was held and the result was: Grange, six votes; Ashby, four: Mackay, two. Mr. Grange was then declared elected.
The position carries a salary of £I2OO yearly, rising to £ISOO. Mr. Grange, who is regarded as an outstanding local body administrator, has been commissioner of the Borough of Thames for the past five years. After serving for seven years as town clerk of Whangarei, he was appointed to a similar position at Invercargill. Hi held that position for five years. z
