Snooker players in Gisborne will re- ' ceive shock to learn that Joe Davis, the world's champion, playing SidneySmith at St. Helliers, in the Channel Islands, cleaned up the whole table in one visit. Breaking the "diamond." he potted a red and continued on to make a break of 134, comprising all the reds, nine blacks, four blues, one pink ,one green, and then all the colours in their order. Smith had the privilege of ••chalking" his cue and not getting a shot throughout the game.
