CJARDENINC CIRCLE (Herald Corriispoiulmit.) The monthly meeting of the Gardening Circle was held at the home of Mrs. G. Mae Kay, an instructive reading on the growing of lettuce being given by Mrs. J. Williams. The competitions resulted:Cascade Chrysanthemums, special prize donated by Mrs. Lindsay.—Mrs. N. Newlands, 1; Mrs. W. Collins, 2. Spider Lilies.—Mrs. P. Kay, 1; Mrs. W. Collins, 2. Novelty Flower.—Mrs. Holah and Mrs. P. Kay, tie, 1; Mrs. Cockery, [i. Rhubarb.—Mrs. P. Kay, 1; Mrs. W. Collins, 2. Amusements.—Mrs. A. Hibbert, 1.

Thoese present were Mesdames Williams, Hibbert, Park, Lindsay, Holah, Kay, Tankard, Lark, Collins, J. Newton, Newlands, Cockery, G. Mae Kay, Malcolm, M. Forrester, J. Ransley, Hankey, and Teohaere. A dainty afternoon tea was .served by the hostesses, Mesdames J. Williams, M. Forrester, and J. Ransley.

Mrs. A. Park and her small son Neil are visiting Gisborne.—Miss D. Conole has left for Te Puia Springs.—Mr. P. Meredith, postmaster in Tokomaru Bay, has received notice of his transfer to Gisborne.—Messrs R. Jackson and J. Edmonds were week-end visitors to Gisborne.

There was an attendance of 15 at the householders' meeting on Monday. Messrs. J. B. Stafford, W. L. King, W. Collin, A. Hibbert, and H. S. Short were elected to the committee. Subsequently Messrs. J. B. Stafford and H. S. Short were re-elected chairman and secretary respectively.
