POLICE EFFICIENCY

LONDON DEMONSTRATION MINISTER IMPRESSED (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Oct. 12. While inspecting the Vine street police station, the Home Secretary, Sir Samuel Hoare, expressed a wish to see a demonstration of the speed with which wireless communications were sent to police cars. At 10.5 U p.m., he heard a message calling four cars to Piccadilly Circus, which is within a few yards of Vine street. He then walked from the station to the Circus. The first police radio car drew up in front of him at 10.59 p.m., and the others were all there six minutes after the call was sent out. Sir Samuel Hoare's visit was to enable him to acquire first-hand information on the running of police stations such as he had already gathered about the prison system. The visit probably will be followed by others.
