LAMBS FOR EXPORT TRADE

KILLING COMMENCING DRAFTS AT AUCKLAND (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. Although the peak of the season is not reached until about the middle of December, early killings of lambs for the export trade will probably take place in freezing works in the Auckland province next week. Small drafts of spring lambs havo reached abattoirs for local consumption, but as yet there has been no regularity of supply and. steady . killing is not expected for a few weeks. However, it is considered probable that several hundred head may come to hand next week and the numbers will increase steadily until the flush lof the season is reached.

The first shipments are expected to leave Auckland at the end of this month or early in November, and farmers will endeavour to reap the advantages that are offered by early consignment to the London market. There is also an incentive to obtain the price premiums that arise from the English Christmas trade
