GAMES EVENING TROPHIES PRESENTED ST. MARY'S FOUR CUPS A games evening as a wind-up of the basketball season was held on the Victoria Domain last night, when competition trophies won during the seasup were presented. The four major trophies went to St. Mary's Convent, who won each of the three grades, as well as the King's Birthday tournament. The president, Mrs. P. Beale, com mented upon this success when coi: gratulating the club, and said it was the first time in the history of basket ball in the district that all three grade winners were from the one club. Mrs. W. A. Bowie, the Basketball Association's patroness, presented the trophies to the captains of the teams. The Stoneham Cup for the A grade, Miller Cup for the B grade and Poverty Bay Teachers' Cup for the C gra'de were presented to the St. Mary's captains. The Beale Cup Rose Bowl for the runners-up to the A grade went to H.S.O.G. A, the Bowie Shield for the runners-up in the B grade to Woolworths, and the runner-up in the C grade was the Caledonian team. During the evening presentations were made to Miss T. Muirhead, secretary of the Basketball Association, to Misses N. Miller and I. Somervell, coaches of the A, B and C grades, and to Mrs. P. Fulton, the association's treasurer, in appreciation of their services. Mrs. Beale was also made a presentation, and Miss Muirhead expressed thanks for Mrs. Beale's leadership of the association's affairs during the year. A bouquet also was presented to Mrs. Bowie.
