Opposition to the screening of motion pictures on Christmas Day was expressed by members of the Pakakura Town Board, when considering an application from the manager of a theatre. Mr. H. D. Spinlcy said he had always contended that pictures should not be screened on Christmas Day, Good Friday, and Anzac Day. The application was also opposed by Mr. G. W. Kerr. "We have no right to say what people should or should not do, when a suitable picture is forthcoming," said the chairman. Mr. H. E. McEntee. The application was granted finally on the easting vote of the chairman.
