BIAS AGAINST SOUTH
ITINERARIES OF TOURISTS Concern was expressed by representatives of .organisations in Christchurch interested in the welfare of the South Island at a statement by Mrs. Mildred Seydell, an American journalist and lecturer, which was published in the Christchurch Press, that strong reluctance had been shown by the Wellington office of the Government Tourist Department to arrange for tourists to visit the South Island. Action has already been taken by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, which has written to the Government Tourist Department calling attention to Mrs. Seydell's statement and expressing surprise if such an attitude had been adopted by an officer of the department.
