PACIFIC AIR MAIL
HITCH IN U.S.A. NO SUBSIDY PROVIDED NEW YORK, Sept. 26. The Washington correspondent of the Associated Press learns that there may be a hitch in the opening of a Pan-American Airways service to New Zealand because of difficulties about the subsidy. "The air mail section of the Post Office," he adds, "informed PanAmerican Airways that it would be impossible to grant a subsidy in 1937 because it was not provided for in the budget, and a specific appropriation by Congress would be required. It added that a subsidy would be considered for the next budget for the year beginning July 1, 1938."
