JAPAN IN SIAM
DISPLACING BRITAIN CLOSER, TRADE RELATIONS TOKIO, Sept. 26. Viscount Okabe, who is president of the Japan-Siam Society, said to-day that Japan had supplanted British influence in Siam.. He referred to the ancient and historic associations of the two countries, the increasingly closer relations, cultural exchanges, and religious ties. The Emperor of Japan conferred one of the highesst orders of the nation—the order first-class of the Sacred Treasure—on the Siamese Minister to Japan, Mr. Raksha, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Japanese Siamese treaty. In a broadcast speech Mr. Raksha spoke glowingly of the new satisfactory treaty which was negotiated by the Minister of Bangkok, Mr. Murai, ex-Consul-General at Sydney. j
