SCOUTS VISIT TOLACtA BAY (Herald Correspondent.) The Ruatoria Scout troop undei Scoutmaster J. N. Little and accomnanied by several members ol the Scout committee paid a return visit to the Tolaga Bay troop last Friday evening. An impromptu send-off was staged in the main street, where many of the parents gathered to see the boys leave by bus on their first visit to another troop. Arriving at Tolaga Bay, they were warmly welcomed by the scoutmastei, the' Rev. N. Benham, and his troop, who then entertained the Ruatorians to a delightful and much appreciated tea. A most enjoyable Scouting evening followed, which will live long in the memory of the visitors. At a meeting of the East Coast teachers it was decided to hold a combined sports meeting, representative of all the Coast schools from Tokomaru Bay to Cape Runaway. This fixture, which normally would have taken place last April, was postponed owing to the infantile paralysis epidemic, and now will be bold early in December, at Ruatoria. Preliminary meetings are being organised in each of the four centres, Tokomaru Bay, Ruatoria, Tikitiki and Te Araroa, in order to select representatives from the schools in those districts. Mr. and Mrs. P. Burton arc on a visit to Hastings.—Mr. Howarth has returned from a brief visit to Auckland. A largely attended meeting was held at the Ruatoria Hotel on Saturday afternoon in connection with the Waiapu Pastoral and Industrial Association. Mr. J. E. F. Sharland was elected president and Miss B. Ludbrook hon. secretary and treasurer. It was decided to hold the show on or about the usual date, the motion being carried unanimously. Loud peals of thunder followed by a torrential downpour intermingled by hail was experienced by the crowds who visited Ruatoria on Saturday afternoon.
