SCHOOL COMMITTEE JUBILEE NEXT YEAR (Herald Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Tolaga Bay School Committee was held at the school last evening, those present being Captain Fraser, chairman, Mrs. Sheather, Miss Goddard. Messrs. E. Harris, A. Dever, F. M. Cleary, F. W. Shelton. V. Hurlstonc, D. B. Day, secretary, and the headmaster, Mr. T. G. McCullough. A vote of thanks was passed to the Tolaga Bay branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union for the donation of £5 towards the fund lor the establishment of the dental clinic. It was agreed to call tenders for the removal of the blue-gum tree in the school grounds. It was decided that a public meeting should be called to discuss the matter of celebrating the jubilee of the school. The log-book showed that the Government school opened in 1888. consequently next year marked the fiftieth year of its existence. The head-master, in his report, referred to the visit of the Education Board’s architect, Mr. Fleming, and touched upon the various repairs that were necessary, mentioning that future developments would determine the location of the new shelters. Mr. McCullough also mentioned that the inspectors had visited the school since the last meeting of the committee.

Mrs. W. Cowsill, Herne Bay, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bradley. Tolaga Bay, and is at present spending a l'ew days with Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Cleary, Iwinui station. Mrs. Cowsill will return to Auckland on Saturday.—Mrs. T. McCreedy, Tolaga Bav, underwent an operation at the Cook Hospital, Gisborne, yesterday .and is reported to be progressing favourably.—Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hubert and their small son, returned on Sunday from a visit to Auckland and Wellington. In the final of the men’s championships played on the Tolaga Hay golf links at the week-end J. Tuhiwai defeated J. Jefferd, five and four. The winners of the mixed foursomes were F. Dallas and Miss J. Wells.
