WORLD MAKERS OF CARS
LONDON EXHIBITION PRICED £IOO TO £3OOO (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 11. The International Motor Exhibition will open on Thursday. The entire display, which includes private motor cars, carriage work, motor boats, marine engines, caravans, trailers, and equipment and accessories of all kinds, will occupy about 25,000 square feet more than last year. It is stated that the gangways throughout the exhibition total about 10 miles in length. Five hundred and fifty cars, ranging in price from £IOO to £3OOO, will be exhibited by 29 British, five German, five French, four Italian, one Belgian and 14 American and Canadian firms. The total value of all the ears will be about £250,000. The general trend in the development of the 1938 models is toward a better and more reliable performance, coupled with more economical running.
Great attention has also been paid to considerations of safety, particularly in relation to gear, braking, and springing systems. The tendency of recent years for increased power in the engines continues. An interesting feature will be the first practical Diesel-engined private car.
