SUDDEN DEATH
DR. H. DUNDAS MACKENZIE EXERTIONS AT SCRUB FIRE Complaining of fatigue after helping to suppress a scrub fire at Whangamata, Waihi, Dr. Henry Dundas Mackenzie, of Auckland, who was spending a vacation in the district, expressed his intention of returning to his seaside dwelling for a rest. He was discovered lying dead in the house later in the afternoon by a friend. The fire broke out before noon in some scrub on a private property adjoining Dr. Mackenzie’s house and several of the residents in the vicinity, including Dr. Mackenzie, immediately commenced to extinguish the fire. About 4 p.m. a friend went to the room, where Dr. McKenzie had gone to lie down and found he was dead. No damage was done by the fire.
