MARRIAGE ACT FLOUTED
FALSE DECLARATION

CHRISTCHURCH, this day
For making a false declaration under the Marriage Act, Arthur Middlcton Leggett, aged 48 years, a carpenter, was sentenced to gaol for nine months by Mr. Justice Northcroft to-day. The offence closely approximated bigamy, said the judge, and was committed with the intention of facilitating a marriage.
