TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND
AMERICAN PRESIDENT PROMISE TO MR. NASH WASHINGTON, July 15. Mr. W. Nash, the New Zealand Minister of Finance and Marketing, before leaving Washington for Pittsburg, told the Australian Associated Press that President Roosevelt had promised to go to New Zealand when he had finished his job here. Mr. Nash added that the communique issued by the State Department contained everything that could be published regarding his talks on trade questions, which resulted in a general understanding of mutual problems.
Mr. Nash found that Government officials had the most friendly disposition towards New Zealand. He lunched with Mr. Henry Morgenthau, junior, Secretary of the Treasury, with whom he discussed world problems. He conferred with the chairman of the maritime commission and Mr. D. L. Roper, Secretary of Commerce. He will proceed to New York tomorrow.
The date of his departure for home is uncertain, because of the possibility of : his return to Ottawa, the reason for which has not been disclosed.
