PRIDE OF SOVIET
LONG FLYING FEAT PILOTS COMMENDED (Reed. July IG, 9.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 15.
It is now explained that a total of 6262 miles, and not 6668, as was at first reported, was covered by the Soviet flyers, Michael Gromov, A. Yumashev, and S. Daniline, who yesterday landed at San Jacinto, California, on the completion of their single-stage flight, via the Arctic Circle, from Russia.
A cablegram sent to the flyers from Moscow and signed by M. Stalin. M. Molotov, M. Voroshilov and other Soviet leaders stated: "We admire your heroism and skill in achieving a new victory for Soviet aviation. The toilers of the Soviet are proud of your success."
GERMAN PRESS BAN (Reed. July 16. 11.30 a.m.) BERLIN, July 15. No mention of the Soviet polar flyers is allowed to appear in the German press.
