RECIPROCITY IN TRADE
AUSTRALIA AND DOMINION TALKS BY MR. SEMPLE (Kli'c. Tel. Copyright-— United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 14, 2.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 14. The New Zealand Minister of Public Works, Mr. R. Semple, yesterday was entertained at luncheon by Lord and Lady Gowrie. The Labour Daily says that Mr. Semple visited the Commonwealth offices and discussed with Mr. J. A. Beasley, M.H.R., the question of cooperation of members of the New Zealand Labour Government with the Labour movement in Australia in connection with the forthcoming Federal elections.
Mr. Semple also discussed with Mr. Beasley the question of a reciprocal trade agreement, with particular reference to citrus fruits.
MISSION OF MR. NASH EFFORTS IN WASHINGTON INVITATION TO ROOSEVELT (Reed. Julv 14, 3 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 13. The New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash, in an interview said that he told President Roosevelt that a trade agreement between the United States and New Zealand ultimately would be achieved. He discussed with the president a variety of matters and outlined the progress of the trade treaty discussions with the State Department. He thought an agreement could and must come. He invited President Roosevelt to visit New Zealand.
