LACK OF MAIDS A CAUSE
LONDON. May 27. Captain G. S. Elliston, M.P. for Blackburn, and father of three sons and one daughter, discussed the causes of empty nurseries at the conference of the Royal Institute of Public Health and Institute of Hygiene at Margate yesterday. He declared that recently a woman of means said to him: “Give us servants and we will soon fill our nurseries.” Although the solution might not be as simple as that, lie added, there was no doubt flint women of all classes were ref using to face the drudgery endured by mothers of large families irt Victorian days.
