WHAKARUA CUP RUGBY
WIN BY WAIAPU CITY (Ilcrnld Correspondent.) After a fast and clean Rugby game, the defenders of the Whakarua Cup, the Waiapu City team (Waiapu), recently defeated the United team from Ruatoria by 12 points to nil. The scorers for the winners were S. liaenga, Fern, R. Paenga, and Manuel, and the tries were all unconverted. The referee was Mr. M. S. Mill. The City team entertained the visitors at the pa and a ball was held in the evening, at which there was a large attendance.
WAIKOHU SELECTION TEAM TO MEET BAY COLTS The team has now been announced to represent the Waikohu Rugby Subunion in the fixture to be played at Whatatulu on Saturday against the visiting Poverty Bay colts’ team. Following is the selection:— Fullback, Bnyley (Puha); threequarters, P. Brown (Te Karaka), P. Crawford (Te Karaka), Robert Rum (Te Karaka): five-eighths, M. Spence (Whatatutu), J. Ruru (Te Karaka); half-back, Swinburne (Whatatutu); front row, Nepe tWhatatutu), Mills (Te Karaka), Kaiwai (Whatatutu); middle row, Kiwhai (Puha), Robertson (Waipaoa); back row, Twigg (Whatatutu), Newton (Puha), and Manuel (Te Karaka).
