SPORT IN TE ARAROA
KEEN INTEREST DISPLAYED
(Herald Correspondent.)
Saturday last was the first fine Saturday in Te Araroa for many weeks. It was very welcome, and basketball, hockey and football drew a large crowd. The first basketball match was played between Awatere and Hicks Bay, the game being fast and enjoyable and Awatere being victorious by 21 to 3. In the second game, Teih'iwa defeated Tokorarangi with a score of 37 to one. Great interest was shown in the hockey match between Cape Runaway and Tokorarangi, the first hockey match played on the Te Araroa Domain. After some very good play, Cape Runaway proved the winners by five goals to nil. The football, as usual, was exciting. City beat Tokorarangi, and Hicks Bay defeated Wanderers by 13 to three.
