CRISIS IN BELGIUM

INTERVENTION BY KING STAND MADE BY CABINET RESIGNATION DEFERRED (Klee. Tol. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 14, 11.30 a.m.) BRUSSELS, July 13. Associating himself with the Minister of Justice, M. de le Veleye, whose resignation following demonstrations against his measure providing for an amnesty for war-time traitors was announced yesterday, the Premier of Belgium, M. Paul van Zeeland, tendered the resignation of the Cabinet to King Leopold. The King suggested that the Ministry’s action was most inopportune and expressed the opinion that the circumstances would be met by the acceptance of M. de le Veleye’s resignation.

M. van Zeeland consented to reconsider the position.

In accepting the King's wishes, M. Van Zeeland made a statement in which he said he feels he should make known what has passed in order to prove the solidarity of the Cabinet with M. de le Veleye.
