RECORD BID ABANDONED
LLEWELLYN DELAYED CONTRARY WINDS (Reed. July 14, 11.15 a.m.) KISUMU, July 13. After having been delayed for seven hours to have adjustments made to the engine of his plane, FlightLieutenant D. Llewellyn took off tor Khartoum at 5.30 a.m. British standard time.
He had until 12.50 p.m.on Thursday to break the record for the journey from Capetown to London.
message from Khartoum, however, states that he has abandoned the attempt on the record owing to contrary winds.
