ROOSEVELT ASSAILED
CHARGES BY CARTOONIST ENEMY OF CAPITALISM REIN GIVEN AGITATORS (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 14, 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 13. A sensation has been caused by a two-page advertisement in the New York Sun consisting of a 20,000-word bitter attack on President Roosevelt by the noted cartoonist, Mr. Percy Crisby, in which he takes exception to being listed as a tax evader in the recent income investigations. It charges Mr. Roosevelt with the desire to destroy the capitalist system and declares: “With every vote given for Roosevelt a human soul was surrendered.” The article refers to Mr. Roosevelt’s university training in “the orchid atmosphere of Harvard,” and declares that Mr. Roosevelt is standing by without protest when private property is being destroyed by agitators.
