GIRL TAKEN FOR DRIVE

COMPLAINT OF ASSAULT STORY IN CITY COURT ONE CHARGE DISMISSED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Because Tie invited a 17-year-old girl student of the Training College to go for a ride in his car after she had smiled at him on a recent evening and attempted to kiss her, Frank Allan Morgan, single, aged 26 years, was charged on summons in the Police Court to-day with assault and charged with driving in a dangerous manner on the Mangere Bridge. He pleaded not guilty to both charges. The girl said in evidence that Morgan stopped halfway up the slopes of Mount Eden and put an arm round her and attempted to kiss her. She slapped his face and screamed. He then said he would drive her where she could scream without being heard. When it was crossing the Mangere Bridge, the car was stopped bv traffic officials and she complained to them.. The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, said that the girl went for the ride willingly and ho was unable to enter a conviction on the assault charge, which was dismissed. Morgan was convicted of dangerous driving and was fined 30s and costs.
