TREATMENT OF INJURIES FIRST-AID TRAINING (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The efforts of the Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, to reduce -to a minimum the accidents on highways is to be supplemented in Auckland by a move for maximum efficiency in the handling of persons injured in accidents. A special course in first aid, pommenced this week, is being attended by traffic inspectors from the Auckland City Council and the Transport Department, Automobile Association patrols and school teachers. Lectures are being delivered b£ Dr. Watson, divisional surgeon of St. John Ambulance Brigade. “This is only a start and I hope it will be followed by all drivers of passenger vehicles,” said Mr. S. E. Langstone, secretary-manager of St. John Ambulance. “In America it is estimated that in 87 per cent of the accident cases the injuries of the victims are aggravated through careless handling.”
