P.B. ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE CUP DONATED Initiating an annual competition for a challenge cup presented by Messrs. F. Allan and K. O’Connell, the Napier United club team will meet the Gisborne Mercantile club team in a soccer match on the Childers Road Reserve on Saturday. Permission lor the game to be played was giyen by the executive of the Poverty Bay Football Association last evening, when Mr. J. McLean presided over an attendance comprising Messrs. A. R. Baker, W. Simmons, R. Waugh, P. McKay, J. Easton, J. Watt, G. Graham, and C. C. Evans, lion, secretary.
A report was received on the schoolboys’ competition initiated last Saturday, and it was decided, in view of the excellent start made, that the championship competition should be deemed to have started from July 10, the draw for Saturday next bringing the four teams out as follow: Mangapapa v. Kaiti, and Central v. Te Hapara.
The competition conducted by the executive to enhance the funds of the association was won by Miss G. Hooper, it was announced.
