ROADSIDE CRUMBLES

WAGON GOES OVER BANK FALL ARRESTED BY TREE A petrol wagon with a full load left the road over the Aratoro Hill, near Te Kuiti, turned over twice in a 40ft. descent, and then came to rest supported by a tree over a drop estimated at 300 ft. The driver, Mr. R. Irvine, of Tauinurunui. escaped with bruises. The wagon met a logging lorry on a corner. The lorry had the inside running and scraped against the hank, but the wagon, in order to pass, had to pull off the metal. The side of the road crumbled away and the wagon went over the bank.

The wagon, which was considerably damaged, was brought hack to Lite road and is being sent to Auckland for repairs.
