SELECTORS’ TEAMS SATURDAY'S TRIADS TOURING FUND DISCUSSED A ladies’ trial match at 2 p.m. and a men’s trial at 3 p.m. were agreed upon by the Poverty Bay Hockey Association’s management committee at a meeting last night, when the selectors, Messrs. T. Tulioe, D. M. Gracie and R. H. Moore, submitted their Possibles and Probabies teams, which were:— Men’s Teams Possibles—Goal, Oxbrow (Defence); fullbacks, D. Huston (Foresters) and C. Scholium (Defence); half-backs, K. Nicol (Y.M.C.A.), R. Lowe (Caledonian) and I. Douglas (Caledonian); forwards, C. Prentice (Y.M.C.A.), G. Tupara (Foresters), R. Watchman (Wesleyan), G. Slade (Caledonian), and A. McLean (Caledonian). Probables. Goal, A. Coker (Y.M.C.A.); fullbacks, M. Lynsky (Y.M.C.A.) and P. Miller (Caledonian); halfbacks, J. Thompson (Caledonian), P. Jones (Y.M.C.A.). and B. Crosby (Y.M.C.A.); forwards, A. Crothcrs (Caledonian), Jock Harrison (Caledonian), Jim Harrison (Caledonian), J. Post (Defence), and A. Stichbury (Y.M.C.A.). Reserves. —G. Fixtures for Saturday The selectors pointed out that those players chosen as reserves also would be tried, and some of them might have a better chance of selection for the final representative teams than those already in the Possibles and Probables. The teams chosen would be tried out first, and alterations made as the games proceeded in order to give the reserves a trial. Matches were arranged as follows: Trial games.—Ladies, No. 1 ground, 2 p.m.; men, No. 1, 3 p.m. Men’s junior competition. —Caledonian v. Y.M.C.A., No. 2,2 p.m.
Visiting team. —-Wairoa Old Girls v. Kia Toa,' No. 2, 3 p.m. Tlie committee decided to ask Mr. H. A. Armstrong to act as coach for the representative teams this season. Arrangements to raise funds to finance the tours were discussed. It was reported that the Borough Council had been written to asking for permission to hold a street sale of surprise packets. A large number of delegates from ladies’ clubs were also present, and methods for the sale of tlie packets by individual members were agreed to. It was decided to hold a further meeting next Monday.
Members of the management committee present at the meeting were Messrs. E. Fitzmaurice, chairman, II Swan, M. Krebs, B. Crosby, G. Odams, A. Bryan, and the hon. secretary, Mr. V. Butler.
