In continuation of the already fine work of the Gisborne and District Beautifying Association with tiic planting of suitable trees on the Coast beaches, a good day’s work was put in over the v/eek-end in preparing for the extension of the pohutukawa line. Preparations were made for the planting of 60 or 70 pohutukawas on the seaward side of the road between Makarori and Tatapourl on the land recently presented by Mr. J. Andrews. Post holes were dug by the enthusiastic working-bee, and the guards erected for the protection of the trees in their early life. Black earth was collected in which to plant the young trees and give them the necessary nourishment. At the far end of the section that was being given attention a horse team was at work collecting boxthorn bushes which will be dumped to act as a protective bank for the planting areas. The trees will be planted as scon a? these preparations have been completed.
