SURVEY OF KERMADECS
PARTY'S SECRET MISSION INTEREST IN AVIATION (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. Secrecy has been observed regarding the projected departure from Wellington to-morrow morning of a party of Public Works Department officials by the Maui Pomare. K is known, however, that the party is going to Kermadec Island on an aviation* mission. The party includes an engineer in the Public Works Department, a surveyor and a wireless operator. ' Preparations for the expedition have been in progress for some time. Provisions are being taken for 12 months, but it is not known how long the party will be away. One difficulty is believed to be a shortage of water and as a result the party is to include a diviner.
