DOUBTFUL HONOUR

NORTHLAND’S UGLIEST MAN

EXHIBITION FEATURE

(Per Press Association.)

WHANGAREI, this day

At the Whangarei Winter Exhibition last night, Mr. Stan Gribble won the doubtful honour of being the ugliest man in Northland. Although there were four finalists, Mr. Gribble won easily.

The competition for finding the ugliest man in Northland was one of the most popular features staged during the exhibition. Although there were 133 nominations, many jibbed, only 50 beiog brave enough to face the judges. The exhibition concluded last night after an extended season of three days owing to the abnormal weather last week. The president, Mr. H. W. James, expressed the executive's pleasure at the support given to the show, despite the weather conditions.
