NATIONAL PARTY

SECRETARIES CONFER A conference of the secretaries of the electorates of the Wellington division of the National Party took place at the National Club, Feat'nerston street, Wellington, yesterday, when the following were present: Messrs. J. M. Kay (Gisborne), W. S. Busby (Bay of Piefity), H. T. Hartland (Wanganui), R. Jewell (Orua), W. R. Way (Rangitikei), J. N. McKay (Waipawa), G. E. G. Rogers (Hawke's Bay),- I.- Langdon Prime (Napier), J. D. Avery (Otaki), A. J. Glaring (Hutt). D. Clarke (Wellington Central), D. W. Leslie (Wellington East), D. P. Hewlett (Wellington South), A. E. Butterworth (Wairau), W. R. Jaques (Nelson), R. Johnson (Pahiatua), J. Free (Masterton), E. Hullest (Wellington Suburbs).

The conference was under the chairmanship of Mr. Justin M. Power, divisional secretary of the party, and many aspects ol' the secretarial work in connection with the organisation ol the party were discussed. The conference terminated with a dinner at the Grand Hotel, at which Mr. C. If. Weston, president of the party, presided. Mr. Weston expressed his appreciation of the attendance of so many representatives, and stressed the fact that the future success of the party depended in no small measure on the loyalty, devotion and conscientious work of the secretaries.
