NEW ALTITUDE RECORD
BRITISH EQUIPMENT KOVAL AIR KOROL PILOT (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 1.15 p.m. RUGBY, June 30. The altitude record of 53,937 ft. attained to-day in a Royal Air Force Bristol 138, piloted by Flight-Lieu-tenant M. J. Adams, was 2575 ft. greater than the figure reached by the Italian Pezzi last month. Both the aircraft and equipment used on the flight were of British design and manufacture. There was a clear sky and practically no wind when the ascent began.
The attempt was observed by an official representative of the Royal Aero Club, and the height attained has been officially communicated to the Ministry by the club.
