FACING CROP FAILURE
SASKATCHEWAN FARMERS APPEAL FOR. ASSISTANCE BIG TRANSFERS OF. STOCK (Elec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. June 30, 3 p.m.) OTTAWA, June 29. A report issued by the Bureau ot Statistics states that Saskatchewan faces the worst failure in history. Much wheat land is definitely beyond hope. Alberta depends upon the early arrival of rains, though in Manitoba the conditions are excellent. A Regina message says that Government officials have warned the province of a rapidly-approaching economic crisis through the crop failure and diminishing fodder. Municipalities in the drought area are faced with critical conditions and arc clamouring to the Government for aid to escape starvation. Thousands of cattle have been shipped to Manitoba and Alberta. The Ottawa Government is considering making an emergency grant.
