BIG VARIETY ARRANGED jf POULTRY AND PIGEONS BUDGIES AND CANARIES ANNUAL SHOW TO-MORROW The annual exhibition of poultry, pigeons and cage birds will open tomorrow with increased entries, particularly for cage birds. In all, there are GGO entries, compared with GOG entries last year. Of this year’s entries, 525 are in the poultry and pigeon section, with 135 in the cage bird division. The

This is the twenty-fourth annual show to be held by the Poverty Bay Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Association, and this year the Poverty Bay Canary and Cage Bird Association is showing in conjunction with the older body. The show is being held under the rules of the North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association. Seven North Island Championships Seven North Island championships have been allotted to this year’s show, two in the poultry section, three for pigeons and two for canaries. North Island championships allotted are:— Poultry.—Utility Minorca and standard (fancy) Minorca. Pigeons.—Fantails, Jacobins and English Owls. Canaries. —Cinnamon Norwich and clear or ticked Yorkshire. Judges have been secured from Taranaki, New Plymouth, Wellington and Hastings. They are:— Poultry.—Utility classes, Mr. Don Stewart, Normanby; open classes, Mr. W. Jones, New Plymouth. Pigeons.—All classes, Mr. W. B. McKenzie, Wellington. Canaries.—Mr. R. Forster, Hastings. The show will be opened at 2 p.m. to-morrow, by which time most ol' the judging will be completed. It will be continued on Saturday, and will remain open until 9.30 p.m. Judging will commence early to-morrow morning. Officers of the Association. Officers of the Poverty Bay Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Association are: Patron, Mr. T. Crosby; life member, Mr. E. J. Poswillo; president and chairman, Mr. C. L. Fogden; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. Wood; hon. secretary, Mr. J. F. Forster; hon. auditor, Mr. Max H. Fry; hon. assistant secretary, Mr, J. J. Hartley; committee, Messrs. J. Dunlop, J. J. Jackson, G. Scott, J. H. Robinson, M. Kippenberger, D. Jones, T. Prince, C. Lloyd, W. Dymond, A. Mitchell, E. Foster, and R. Herivel. There have been only five chairmen of the association in the past 23 years of its existence. The first chairman was Mr. C. I-I. Davies, now living in Rotorua. He held the position for two or three ybars. Mr. E. J. Poswillo, who has been elected a life member in recognition of his services, had two long terms aggregating about 12 years, and Mr. O. Church, now in Taranaki, had about two years in the position. Mr. T. Crosby, the present patron, was chairman for a year, and was followed by Mr. C. L. Fogden, who is now in his third year as president and chairman.
