STILL AT THE HELM
At the age of 85 an Englishman who is the doyen of Europeans in Singapore is still actively managing his own business which he founded 34 years ago. He is Mr. H. W. H. Stevens. Mr. Stevens built and operated the first cattle boats which ran between Australia and Singapore. He founded the Singapore Cold Storage Company in 1903, raising the local portion of the capital in a single day at the Singapore Club.
