RADIO B STATIONS
PURCHASE BY STATE ARRANGEMENTS FOR NTNE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Out of 21 B radio stations operating in the Dominion, the Government has purchased nine, and the indications are that it will be able to take over a few more, according to a statement by the acting-Minister in charge of Broadcasting, tlio Hon. F. Jones, in on interview yesterday. “By Saturday, we will know the position regarding tlio others, and when we get that information wo shall discuss the question of what stations should be subsidised and to what extent,” he said. “That, of course, refers only to the ones we do not purchase, and it will take some time.”
Mr. Jones repeated his assurance that there would be no compulsion on station owners to sell.
