PIG CHAMPIONSHIP
JUDGING OF BACONERS TAM.WORTH IN FIRST PLACE (IVe Press Association.) WHANG ARE l, this day. Judging of the national bacon pig championship of New Zealand at the Whangarei Winter Exhibition was completed to-day, the judges being Messrs. H. Kneebonc, supervisor and grader at the Auckland Farmers Freezing Company, and M. J. Scott, supervisor of the pits industry of New Zealand. , Awards were as follows: G. Child (Maungakaramea), Tamworth, 90 points, 1; G. Child. Large White, 89, 2; S. Irwin Crooks (Mangatapere), Tamworth, 88, 3; W. Massey and Sons (Mnngere), Tamworlh-Berkshire cross, 80, 4; J. Middleton (Otaika), Tamworth, and Kaikohe Piggery, 81, equal, 5. The winning exhibit was awarded second in the on-hoof championship held at the summer show. Mr. Middleton’s entry was then awarded first place. The competition was the largest show of bacon pigs ever staged in the Southern Hemisphere.
