GRANDSTAND REPAIRS
IN TIME FOR RACES EXT EN SION DEO LI NE D An extension of time for the completion of the Park Domain grandstand repairs was refused by the Gisborne Borough Council last night, when at was agreed that the work must be completed in time for the forthcoming race meeting. The works committee recommended this course. "The successful tenderer,” the committee reported, "wrote requesting that the time for the completion of the work be extended to two months, owing to his difficulty in procuring scaffolding for the job. In view of the forthcoming race meeting it: is imperative that the work be finished within the specified time, one month, and the committee recommends the cancellation of the accepted tender and that the contract be offered to the next lowest tenderer.”
The report was adopted, and it was decided to notify Mr. Owen to this effect, at the same time offering the contract to Mr. A. Kirk.
