CENSURE BY MAGISTRATE
MAORI KNOCKED DOWN (Per Press Association.) N API HR, last night. “1 cannot stress too strongly the motorist's attitude towards the in jttred man,” remarked the magistrate, in fining Frank Macovini for negli gent driving. The charge was a sequel to an accident after a dance at Taradale on March IS last, when a Maori was knocked down and his leg was injured. The evidence alleged that tindefendant said, when requested to take the injured imn to the hospital: “Hot his own drunken friends take him. ’ ’ His first duty was to the man, tin magistrate continued. “The evidence of negligence tins been overwhelmingly proved.” t
